BRAKES SERVICE & REPAIRS

Brakes are an essential component to any vehicle and they should be regularly serviced and maintained to ensure your car is 100% safe to drive and is performing to the best of its ability.
Maintaining your brake pads and discs is an essential part of keeping your vehicle safe on the road.

Regular brake checks not only ensures the safety of you and others, it also ensures you are complying with current vehicle safety regulations.

Free Brake Check

If you are looking for Brake Replacement in Sydney then you have come to the right place.
At Jeff Mills Auto Services, we can carry out a brake check while you wait.
The test includes close inspection of the brake pads and discs as well as the shoes and drums

Disc Brakes

The main components of your car’s disc brakes are:

  • The Brake Pads
  • The caliper, which contains a piston
  • The rotor, which is mounted to the hub

Disc brakes have a caliper, which squeezes the brake pads against the wheel. In a car’s disc brake, the brake pads squeeze the rotor instead of the wheel and the force is transmitted hydraulically. The disc is then slowed due to friction between the pads and the disc.

When it is moving, your car has a certain amount of kinetic energy. The brakes have to remove this energy from your car in order to stop it. They do this by converting the kinetic energy to heat generated by the friction between the pads and the disc each time you stop your car.

Drum Brakes

The main components of your car’s drum  brakes are:

  • A brake drum
  • Brake shoes (which have a friction material lining)
  • Hydraulic wheel cylinders

When you apply the brake pedal, hydraulic wheel cylinders force the two brake shoes against the inner surface of a rotating brake drum. This contact produces friction which enables your vehicle to slow down or stop.
